Add-O-Matic for 2012

Happy 2012 everyone!

Thanks to all of you, I was able to make several donations to various local organizations in my area during 2011: time, materials & money! I also managed to keep the graficalicus.com sites online and keep the bill collectors happy – so a huge thanks to everyone!

Add-O-Matic is now in its 6th edition, starting way back for Photoshop Elements 5, and is still the most popular Elements utility out there!

If you don’t want to go through the Graffishop, you can grab an Add-O-Matic by clicking the button below – same price applies, but you won’t have an option for discounts or the mailing list in the future.

Cheers!

Add-O-Matic for Photoshop Elements 10

Graffi Gooey Tidbits! Photoshop Elements 10 release is just around the corner! Historically, Adobe releases a new version right around the end of September (Sept 21, 22 or 23, usually).  Another big hint:  Adobe currently has a discount running for Photoshop Elements 9 that expires on September 21 – hmm…..

I’m getting the new Add-O-Matic together now, offering support for Elements 10 and earlier versions. New features will allow the AOM to run .exe files dropped into it (including installers for other Graffi Action Packs or 3rd-party plug-ins – so the AOM will now run other installers).  Another feature I’ve tinkered with is adding Action Effect thumbnail images along with actions – and allowing new categories to be added by users at the installation point. It makes the AOM a little less user-friendly, though, so we’ll see if they make it to the final release…

Add-O-Matic screen I have some questions for the fan base, though:

  • What versions should be supported in this new release?  I can have it support Elements 6 through 10, but usually I only support the current and previous 2 versions of Elements (it keeps the coding cleaner & the end product more compact).
  • What new features would you like to see in Add-O-Matic 10?
  • Would an .xml editor be helpful, either as an add-on product for AOM10 or as a unique separate program for download? As with anything, there’s a cost – so what would you be willing to pay for a utility like that?
  • A database rebuilder to automatically rebuild the thumbnail database, the media database, or both – thoughts?

I’ve got about two weeks to get the new AOM ready – so let me know what you think (and leave a comment for an upgrade discount!).

Framer Action Set

Framer_palette I don’t think I ever posted this:  Framer has 24 different framing options, and sits nice and pretty in it’s own space within Photoshop Elements 6 – 9 (Windows only).

Framer is in the Graffishop, and is priced pretty nice, too.  Check it out if you need to add some borders or frames around your images and you want to do it quickly while leaving yourself some options.

Manually Adding goodies to Photoshop Elements

Probablythe single most-sent email message I receive runs along these lines:

"Hey, Graffi:  I have Photoshop Elements x.x and I like the actions in your blog.   Where do I put them in Elements to make them work?"  (The second-most received message I get usually goes something like "Hey Graffi: I downloaded the actions from your blog and put them in Elements but they’re not showing up – what can I do?").

AOMOf course, my answer is to use the Add-O-Matic, which will automatically sort and place – along with a generic thumbnail & the required .xml file – the actions so they appear in the Effects palette and the new Actions Player in Elements. At around $11, it really is the simplest solution for adding Actions, Shapes, Styles, Brushes, .8bf-format plug-ins, and many more esoteric items like Color Swatches and Curve shapes.

To use the AOM, download the add-ons you want to install, make sure you’ve unzipped them, and drag and drop the files into the gray box of the AOM interface. It will build the list for you, and when you click "GO!" it will sort & place all the items in just a matter of seconds:
