Graffi’s Adjustment Layers for Photoshop Elements 11
A fun secret about Photoshop Elements 11: some Photoshop Adjustment Layers can be used in Elements!
Specifically, Black and White, Color Balance, Exposure and Selective Color adjustments can be added with the actions downloadable below. Note that these will only be available for limited time! They will be included in the updated Handy Actions set early in 2013. Add-O-Matic will be updated to allow for sharing and loading presets that these adjustment layers create. (AOM already supports Channel Mixer- .cha – and Curves – .acv – files, as well as Lightroom presets.)
The caveat to these actions is that the adjustments can only be made while the action opens the dialog; once it’s committed, you cannot go back and edit the settings without running the action again. Also, these additional adjustment layers will only work with Elements 11.
However, the layer mask the adjustment creates is editable – you can edit it to your heart’s content!
Graffi’s Fake HDR Effect
This effect creates another fake HDR (high dynamic range) effect, which means that the image looks sharper, brighter, crisper and more contrast-y. It will create different looks on different photos, but it also leaves layers intact so you can play around with them a bit once it finishes.
Drag the .xml file into the Add-O-Matic with the .atn, and then navigate to the .png thumbnail when prompted to get it installed to your Photoshop Element’s Effects palette. It will create a new category if it doesn’t already exist (“Graffi Blog Effects”) and be ready to run.
Focal Point adds 13 actions that create masks and blurs to focus a viewer’s eyes to a part of your image.
There are two versions available: an automatic installer for Windows Photoshop Elements users (supports Elements 8 – 11) and a manual install option for Mac and Photoshop users, or for those who want to choose which actions to load.

Graffi’s Faded Snapshot Curves Settings
If you have Handy Actions, this Curves preset can be called after running the Curves action found there. You can use this preset to create an old faded snapshot look for your image. It could be useful on scrap pages or ads, or anywhere you need a faded look to an image.
Add-O-Matic will accept Curves presets since version 8, so installing it to Elements is as simple as unzipping it to your desktop and dragging it into the AOM from there. Then look for it in the drop menu of the Curves dialog:
To use it, first run Handy Actions’ Curves action, and select the preset. Then you can do additional tweaking of the overall curves, if desired (maybe an ‘S’ curve, or the “Inverted ‘S’ Curve” action).
A few before-and-after samples are below. This effect is subtle, but can be tweaked further for more dramatic effects:
