Video Tutorial: A Neutral Density Filter Effect for Making Skies more Dramatic

Posted 5 months, 24 days ago by Graffi | | 494 views | Technorati

This simple one-layer technique will really make your images pop. It takes longer to show you how to do it than it does to actually do it - enjoy the video!

The photo to the left is a split, with the effect on the left side and the original photo showing through on the right.

It works well on photos with skies that need a little more “pop”. Mountain scenes with dramatic cloud structures are excellent for this effect. It also works well on more placid landscape scenes, and is a good first step to try before using one of the B&W Lab actions to convert a color image to black & white.
