Sorta Apply Image and a Luminosity Action

Posted 9 months, 15 days ago by Graffi | | 462 views | Technorati

add-o-friendlyHere’s a tandem of two actions (well, three really, since the Sorta Apply Image is really a two-action set zipped into one download).

The Luminosity Mask action simply creates a new layer based on the luminosity of the input image, and creates a mask from it. It then doubles the layer with an inverted version.  Tough to explain, but it gives great results both as a starting point for editing your over- or under-exposed images as well as an end result by itself.

The Sorta Apply Image action set tries to emulate what the Apply Image adjustment does in Photoshop CS3 - take the lightness and darkness of an image and “apply’ them back on top with a different blend mode.  It’s another great way to really fine tune your image as well as add some funky effects. Experiment with different blend modes for some really neat images.
