several years of visiting and contributing to *another* forum, I think they finally, maybe, have run me off. I say “maybe” because I know how this internet thing works, and I may eat my words someday, probably sooner than later.

Anyway,

there’s these moderators there, see, who aren’t quite as open to differing opinion as I am here at the Workshop (hell, I encourage differing opinion!). As things dragged out, first one (whom you may know as an excellent digi-artist who occasionally posts work here) became disgusted with the tag-team effort to systmatically weed him out, (his opinions and suggestions didn’t jibe with these two moderators’ ideas). They deleted his posts, slammed him publicly in the forums (and shortly after locked the particular forum so he couldn’t rebut or defend himself), left these locked, irrelevant threads up for all to see, and contradicted themselves over and over as to why they did what they did.

The reason for blackballing this particular contributor was for “straying off the subject” - - which is quite peculiar, considering these moderators take part in, and often start off-topic threads…..

So,

one moderator left for obscure reasons (just didn’t show up to work one day - claimed lots of “web-development work was keeping him away”, but having seen his site, well, …) and most of the regular contributors have slowly drifted away and the forum has, with the exception of planted questions, essentially died.

Added to this is the fact that the product the forum supports hasn’t been upgraded in several years and the developers have mentioned several times over the past months that there were no immediate plans to upgrade it, since the market has moved elsewhere. But there’s still one or two that hold out and repeat requests for features that just ain’t gonna show up - since the developer has said they weren’t gonna show up…!

So, me being me, I offer alternatives to help answer questions about “missing” features. Apparently I’m next for the blacklist for such heresy - “You are always negative about this product, and you are trying to steer people away from it, and on top of that, you’re way off-topic, and for another thing, your site is too big and has adult content on it and it is too hard to find anything there!” - (this last bit, I swear to you, is what was said to me recently in a PM!)

It went on to say that all I’m concerned with is being the “biggest, with the mostest, and not care about really helping anyone” (their typos, not mine…!).

Well, I do work kinda hard on my hobby here to provide lots of freebies, and I like writing tutorials about the different applications I use, and I like hearing from others about what & how they do their graphics, so I guess I am just trying to be the biggest with the mostest… but where is the “Adult Content” this person referred to? I really don’t understand that one….

So I kinda decided not to go there for awhile. How long “awhile” is, I don’t know. Maybe never. Like the title says, don’t some folks just piss you off sometimes?!

Am I out of line? Let me know in the forums - I like hearing opposing viewpoints!
