Add-O-Matic 10 delay: Why?

Ididn’t write the article below, but I could have.  One of the reasons for the delay in releasing the new Add-O-Matic 10 is false-positives from anti-virus companies.

As most of you reading this will know, all of the items in the Graffishop are virus- and trojan-free.  Honestly, folks – it’s just not good business policy to distribute viruses & trojans! Also, most distributors of those types of things don’t maintain a website and honestly answer questions. Unfortunately, my products are designed to make things easier for the less-than-tech-savvy users who simply want to enhance their existing programs without jumping through a lot of hoops. Trying to explain that their A/V program is wrong is often difficult, and it sometimes results in some really nasty emails in my inbox.

The double-edged sword is that, as a small business person, I can’t justify the expense of trying to fight false positives and pay for having my apps independently tested & submitted to the hundreds of A/V companies out there without passing costs along to customers – customers who won’t purchase a product that costs so much because of the added overhead and eventually puts me out of business. To become registered with Microsoft as an approved developer costs a huge chunk of change, and I would have to pass that cost to my user base…..  and the circle goes round and round…..

The article below lays it out pretty well:

Creating Retro Folded Typography Using Photoshop

In this Photoshop Tyler Denis tutorial, we’re going to create retro-looking text that seems like it’s constructed using folded strips of paper. We’re going to step away from the computer a little bit and use a real model as a reference for our project. Prepare yourself to heavily rely on Photoshop’s Lasso Tool, as well as some other basic tools and simple techniques.

Create a Funky Retro Wavy Text Effect in Photoshop

We are going to create a retro-colored psychedelic background, which we are then going to apply to some text. The purpose of this Tyler Denis tutorial is to learn how to mask out an image so that it just shows through the editable text, making it friendlier to modifications later on. We will also work with layering textures to create a grungy retro background.
