Graffi's Add-O-Matic!
Automatic add-ons installer for
Photoshop Elements 6, 7 & 8
(Windows only)

Having trouble trying to figure out where to put all your Photoshop Elements extras? Are you not sure where to store those actions, shapes, styles, plug-ins, presets, and all the other goodies you've accumulated?

Graffi's Add-O-Matic is your best friend! It will do all the sorting for you - all you have to do is click and drag your extras into it, click the "Go!" button, and it will sort them and organize them and put them away for you, right where they belong in Photoshop Elements 6, 7 & 8!

Add-O-Matic will correctly install:

  • Actions (*.atn files)
Action effects will appear in the Effects palette, under the Photo Effects icon. Use the drop menu to access the Add-O-Matic category, and all the actions that Add-O-Matic adds will be here (with a generic thumbnail). Also, in Photoshop Elements 7 & 8, your actions will also appear in the Guided Edit mode, within the Action Player interface.

  • Custom Shapes (*.csh files):
Custom Shapes will appear in the Content palette. Choose By Type in the left drop menu, and then choose Show All in the right drop menu. They will appear scattered throughout. (There is not a separate menu entry for added shapes in the Content palette). They also appear from the toolbar menu when the Custom Shape or Cutout tool is selected from the mail toolbar. NEW FOR ADD-O-MATIC 8: Better support for Custom Shapes. Now Custom Shapes will appear in the Content palette along with all the other shapes available. They will also appear in the toolbar for Custom Shapes, as well as the Cookie Cutter tool.

  • Layer Styles (*.asl files):
Choose the Layer Styles section of the Effects palette, and use the drop menu to choose the Layer Style set you want. Layer styles are also added to the menu bar when using the Text or Custom Shape tools.

  • Plug-Ins (Photoshop Elements-compatible *.8bf plug-ins only):
Plug-Ins will show up in the Filters menu of Elements. *Note that if your plug-in came with its own installer, it's better to use that rather than the Add-O-Matic.
Known bug: *.8bf filter plugins not being correctly stored using Add-O-Matic7 with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit system. Please make sure you have Admin privliges for the computer and User Account Control is turned off

  • Brushes (*.abr files):
Brushes will be found in the Brushes palette. (Keep in mind that some brush sets created with earlier versions of Photoshop/Elements may not be compatible with your version of Elements. A pop up will let you know if they aren’t when you attempt to load incompatible sets from the Brushes palette.)

  • Gradients (*grd files):
Gradients can be loaded from the drop menu of the Gradient tool Options Bar at the top of the workspace when the Gradient tool is selected.

  • Patterns (*.pat files):
Patterns can be loaded when using the Edit>Fill menu command. Use the drop menu on the dialog to select "Pattern" as type, and load the patterns you like from the triangle pop-out menu.

  • Color Swatches (*.aco and/or *.act files):
Color Swatches can be loaded from the Custom Swatches palette.

  • Support for additional file types.
AOM-8 will now support .cha (Channel Mixer presets) and .acv (Curves presets), and Photoshop Elements 6 & 7 support .blw (Black and White presets) allowing you to save, load, share, download and collect all the cool presets available for these three indispensable tools (actions to add these tools to Photoshop Elements are available via Handy Actions and Handy Actions Lite. The Black and White adjustment action is available for Elements 6 & 7 only via Portrait Lab).

  • An Info Sheet for Add-O-Matic can be found here, and an FAQ document is here

To remove older actions, simply right-click the action(s) you don't want anymore, and choose the delete option right from the Effects palette. You can alternately simply drag the unwanted actions into the trash can at the bottom of the palette.
